Analysis of the match between Switzerland Women and Iceland Women
As the host nation, Switzerland automatically qualified for the Women's EURO 2025, but this doesn't mean they're highly rated. With a history of never advancing past the group stage and securing just one win in their last six matches at recent EURO finals (2017 and 2022), their current form is a significant concern.
Their opening match in this year's tournament further solidified this perception. Despite playing at home, Switzerland put in a lackluster performance, suffering a 2-1 defeat to Norway. The scoreline could have been even worse had Hegerberg not missed a penalty in the 70th minute.
Given their unconvincing display, Switzerland can hardly be considered a formidable opponent for Iceland. However, Iceland isn't faring much better. While Switzerland has won only one of their last 10 matches, Iceland has also managed just one victory in their past 11 games. With two teams struggling to find their form facing each other, a draw in their upcoming match would be an entirely understandable outcome.
